Quinn Dougherty Is District's Student of the Month for April

The Student of the Month for April is Quinn Dougherty, a first grade student at the .

Quinn is a friendly, dependable and intelligent student who is always ready to lend a helping hand and give a compliment. The younger of two children, Quinn’s big sister, Gracie, is in fourth grade at . Quinn loves spending time with his sister, his parents and the family cat named "Dweezil".

Quinn thinks the literacy center is great. “My teacher Mrs. McGlynn is so nice – School is super fun, especially gym class with Mr. Francis,” he said. Quinn really likes to read with his favorite author being Dr. Seuss. He is already looking forward to next school year. As second grader he will attend Sabold with his big sister.

When Quinn was asked what he wants to be when he grows up, he said without hesitation, “I want to be a Federal Marshall like my uncle, so I can catch the bad guys.” Quinn also knows where he wants to attend college, “I plan on graduating from Penn State, like my father” he said. With his goals set, there is no doubt that Quinn will achieve great things as an adult. When he is not in school, Quinn likes to play baseball, read and play with his friends outside.

The staff at the the literacy center were quick to commend Quinn.

“Quinn is my helper every day after school; he likes to be referred to as the school’s ‘assistant principal.’ I can describe him in three words: sweet, lovable, and kind,” said Dawn Ries, the school secretary.

Joy Bollman his kindergarten teacher from last year added, “Quinn is very caring. He always wanted to know how I was doing and he made sure to tell me how nice I looked.”

Wendy Yohn, the SLC principal concluded by saying, “Quinn can always be seen with a smile and a bounce in his step. His exceptional love of reading and learning is witnessed through his comprehensive discussions. He is a good friend to all and delights equally in learning and play.”

For these reasons and many more, it is a pleasure to recognize Quinn Dougherty as the Springfield School District April Student of the Month.
