Springfield's Fourth of July Celebration

The 64th annual celebration sponsored by the Springfield Lions Club will take place Wednesday, July 4. Rain date is Saturday, July 7. (Postponement information will be broadcast on KYW 1060.)

The Volunteer Memorial Wall dedication ceremony will take place at 8:30 a.m. at Saxer and Powell.
of will lead the parade, which forms in front of the at 8:30 a.m. The parade starts at 9 a.m. and follows this route: West Leamy Ave. to Powell Road, left on Powell Road to Saxer Ave., left on Saxer Ave. to Springfield Road, left on Springfield Road to Veterans Memorial Park.


Participants include and Fire Police, American Legion Post #227, V.F.W. Post #5705, Springfield Fire Company 44, , Neighborhood Floats, Springfield High School Band, neighborhood floats, Historical Car Club of PA and boys and girls bicycle, tricycle and strollers.

Bike judging will take place from from 8 a.m. till 9 a.m. in the high school parking lot.

Activities at begin at 10:30 a.m. with the National Anthem by the Fire House Five Band, a flag raising ceremony, greetings and a salute to veterans.

There will be the Fire House Five Concert, free ice cream, games and prizes and field events in the lower field, including a 50-yard dash, 100-yard dash, three-legged races and Springfield Run for Fun.
