Local Swimmer Preps For 2012 London Olympics
Brendan Hansen will compete in the 2012 Olympics in London this year.
NEWTOWN SQUARE–The Suburban Seahawks have produced many notable swimmers and Olympians but one that may be buzzing in the news moreso this summer is two-time Olympian Brendan Hansen.
Are there any Springfield athletes competing in the Olympics?
The reclaimed their home turf at the Suburban Swim Center, off of Gradyville Road in Newtown Square, last fall after years of vacancy. and spoke to swimmers and supports of the swim center at the grand reopening. He also jumped into the pool and raced a leg in a relay race with some of the club's current swimmers.

Hansen just missed qualifying for the 200-meter breaststroke in the 2008 Olympic Trials (he came in fourth) and decided to take a break from swimming. But he's kept active and has been competing in triathlons, he said in an interview with Sports Illustrated.
