Delaware County native and former Suburban Seahawk of the , Brendan Hansen will be going back to the Olympics.
Hansen has qualified to go to the 2012 London Olympics this summer after he finished first place in the men’s 100m breast finals on Tuesday, reported SB Nation, a sports website.
“Brendan Hansen was the favorite in the event, finishing up in first place with a time of 59.68. Hansen finished fourth in Beijing in the men's 100m breast in 2008 and will now head back to the Olympics for the third time and gets to face off with his rival, Japan's Kosuke Kitajima,” according to SB Nation.
The 30-year-old Hansen has not yet replied to Patch’s Twitter request for an interview regarding his recent win in the finals.
However he told Patch in an October 2011 story of his reason for training hard.
“The reason why I’m swimming is to win gold in London,” shared Hansen. “I’ve won silver and bronze but not a gold in the singles. I’ve never been more excited.”
Hansen, who now lives in Austin, Tx., has already won a silver medal in the 100-meter breaststroke, a bronze in the 200-meter breaststroke and gold in a medley relay.
