Springfield's 12-U Blue Storm Team Sweeps Cal Ripken District 1

The Springfield Athletic Association's 12U-Blue Storm youth baseball team completes the sweep as four-time Cal Ripken District 1 Champions!

Dating back to 2009 as 9-year-olds, the Springfield Athletic Association 12U-Blue Storm has never lost a district game. 

Sweeping four district titles - and going undefeated in the process - is a feat never before accomplished by an Springfield Athletic Association (SAA) team.

The defending Mid-Atlantic Regional Champion and two-time PA State Champion SAA 12U-Blue Storm completed their historic run through Cal Ripken District 1 by beating Hilltop in consecutive, yet very different, games.

In the first game, Springfield build an 8-1 lead and withstood a valiant run from Hilltop, leading to an 8-6 Storm victory. In the championship game, Hilltop jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead and built an 8-4 lead before the Storm erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the 5th inning to emerge with a 12-8 win and their 4th consecutive district crown.

Next up for the SAA 12U-Blue Storm will be the Cal Ripken 12U PA State tournament being hosted by Springfield AA at .
