More than 15 local Girl Scouts presented toy buckets to Crozer-Keystone Health System representatives for pediatric patients at area hospitals on June 8.

The members of Girl Scout Troop 502 of Delaware County knew that they wanted to create a sustainable project that would not only help them to earn the Bronze Award – the highest honor a Junior Girl Scout can achieve – but also benefit the community. By creating a series of buckets filled with various toys for children at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, they certainly achieved one of their goals. Troop Leader Ruth Zimmerman worked with the fourth and fifth grade girls from Springfield, Ridley and Drexel Hill since the fall to develop a project that met the guidelines of the Girl Scouts of the United States of America. For the first time, Crozer-Keystone Health System required that employees, volunteers and affiliated medical staff receive an influenza vaccination. Crozer-Keystone administrators report that the health system achieved 100 percent compliance in this goal. Crozer-Keystone has approximately 6,800 employees, more than 1,000 physicians with privileges at CKHS hospitals, and more than 1,000 volunteers.
