Spotlight Theatre Opens 73rd Season with Tense Drama, THE HOUSE OF BERNARDA ALBA

Spotlight Theatre zealously opens its 73rd season with Frederico Garcia Lorca’s The House of Bernarda Alba, directed by Thomas-Robert Irvin, as part of its Innovation series.






 
After
the mourners depart the funeral of Bernarda's second husband, the
tyrannical matriarch announces to her five daughters that their period
of mourning is to last for eight years. 
 
Translated into English by Emily Mann, The House of Bernarda Alba is
produced by special arrangements with Dramatists Play Service, and will
run July 18, 19, 20, 21, 25, 26, and 27. Tickets for 8 p.m.
performances (Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays) cost $15 each; tickets
for the 2 p.m. matinee on July 21 cost $12 each. All performances will
take place at 129 Park Avenue, Swarthmore, PA 19081. Spotlight Theatre
is wheelchair-accessible and a short walk from public transportation,
