In Springfield Township, the celebration takes place at the Springfield Township Country Club Pool.

National Night Out, a night to promote police-community partnerships to help prevent crime, will take place on Aug. 6.

In Springfield Township, the celebration takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Springfield Township Country Club Pool, at 400 West Sproul Road.

The purpose of National Night Out, started in 1984, is to build relationships with police and heighten awareness against crime. It has grown from 2.5 million participants in 23 states to 37 million in all states, according to the National Night Out website

Springfield neighbors and police will enjoy the pool, live music by The Third Floor Band, food and drinks, children's activities, raffles and much more at Tuesday's National Night Out.

The PA Masonic CHIP Program will also be available, free of charge, to parents. The Child Identification Program, includes fingerprinting, a DNA kit and photo and video, to be used in case of an emergency or if your child were to go missing.

Head out to National Night Out and send a message to criminals that Springfield residents are committed to keeping the township safe.
